Gaura lindheimeri

Gaura lindheimeri – a perennial shrub that grows up to 1.0 m. The flowers are white to light pink in color and are placed on long petioles. The plant blooms continuously from spring until frost in autumn. Prefers a sunny position, well-drained and moderately moist soil (in case of too much moisture the root of the plant may rot). In winter the plant needs to be protected from low temperatures. Plants that hibernate outdoors during spring should be pruned harder. Gaura varieties with white flowers are more resistant to low temperatures. The name Gaura is derived from the Greek word gauros (excellent, extraordinary) because of the appearance of the flowers.
