Pinus nigra – a coniferous tree that grows up to 40 m in height. The tree top is broadly ovate and rounded at first, and later becomes broad and almost horizontal. It grows on dry, warm, rocky soils up to 1600 m above sea level. It is also often planted in city parks, individually or in groups. It withstands drought and it is resistant to frost, wind and urban pollution.

Pinus nigra var.laricio – a variety of black pine. It differs from black pine by the shape of needles (slightly curled).
