Cotoneaster salicifolius
Cotoneaster salicifolius – an evergreen, 3-4 m tall, densely branched shrub. The oblong, dark green, glossy leaves are densely arranged on the branches. The flowers are white, small and occur in spring. Shiny, red fruits remain on the branches throughout the winter. There are no specific soil requirements. Sunny positions are the ones it prefers. It withstands drought, wind, toxic gases, shade and low temperatures. It is most commonly used for binding embankment, planting next to retaining walls and for forming freely growing low fences.
