Cherry – Maraska
Cherry – Maraska – is an old Croatian autochthonous variety or subspecies of cherry most widespread in Dalmatia. The fruit is dark red in color, sweet or sour. It belongs to early fruits, which are less eaten in the fresh state and more industrially processed (juices, jams, brandy, wine, stuffing for confectionery products, compote, etc.). Cherries are most suitable for permeable, warm and deep soils (sandy loam and loamy and loamy-clay soils). Cherries tolerate heavier soils so drainage is mandatory on such soils. The lower limit for cherry cultivation is 650 mm of rainfall per year.
