Berberis julianae

Berberis julianae – an evergreen shrub up to 3 m tall. The leaves are oblong, up to 10 cm long, with a leathery texture and spiky tips and edges; they are dark green, in autumn they turn dark red. Blooms in May. The bush likes sunny to semi-shady positions. It can grow in shade even though the flowers will not grow lush. It can grow in various soil types that have good drainage. It is resistant to drought, urban pollution and cold temperatures. It is grown as a solitary ornamental plant or as a hedge.
