Apple – Idared

Apple – Idared – American variety originated in 1935 by crossing the Jonathan and Wag(e)ner varieties and was introduced into production in 1942. The highly productive plantation variety is by far the most popular apple in Croatia today. Due to its large and beautiful fruit, good taste and unusually long storage of fruits, it is highly appreciated and no wonder it holds such a high place. Idared smells like perfume. Crispy, pale – yellow meat has a juicy, fine, delicate texture, sweet – sour taste and an unobtrusive aroma. It is an excellent apple for fresh consumption, fruit salads, cooking and baking. The fruits ripen in the first ten days of October. The fruits are a basic yellowish-green color, moderately or completely covered with redness.
